I did post this a while ago but can't find the thread now as I write so much rubbish and post quite a bit.
Anyway .......
I set up a large tank with Eco Complete, vast filtering and lots of air but the water never cleared even after a couple of weeks it was still slightly misty in there and looking at everyone else's tanks and my other three tanks I am gutted that I spent nearly £50 on the substrate. I did write to them and tell that them all sorts of strange things happened when I set the tank up originally, I mentioned the funny fluffy things on the glass and I also mentioned that I had what turns out to be antibubbles, they had never heard of anyone having antibubbles with it before and having seen the picture they had no idea what the fluffy things were. Still the snails have now eaten the fluffy things and after a couple of days the antibubbles stopped but then the tank went very cloudy. It has stayed that way ever since and although it is slightly smoky looking with a blue haze to it today I still get down when I look at others pictures with such superb clarity.
They said they were willing to replace the substrate which I think was brilliant of them but they would quite like for me to leave it for a while and see how it pans out and if it is no better in a month then to contact them again and take it from there.
The conditions don't seem to be bothering the occupants at all as they are playing, eating and breeding normally so I have no idea what it is.
I did try Accuclear but that did nothing at all except make it more smoky looking and then clear back to what it was after a day or so.
I have Seachems's Purigem in as a polisher, just one sachet as they are quite expensive but that did nothing either.
I have now added some filter floss to the Lac external filter to see if that helps it at all.
I have tried it with aeration, without aeration and all sorts of funny combinations but it gets no better at all. so in one months time I may just have to strip the tank down again and set it up all over again, such a chore when you consider that I have about 100 shrimp I there now.
I took the carbon filter out as I thought that might be causing some of the haze as it looks slightly bluish when you look at the tank, but even that doesn't seem to have made a difference.
At night I go to bed and dream that I will get up and see a crystal clear tank, but then I wake up and see reality. .......... I want to sleep for a month and see if I have to set it up all over again.

the other things that annoys me is that I paid £35 for a heater and it has not even turned on yet, in fact I am struggling to keep the temperature down low enough to suite the two type of shrimp that I have in there.
