I am sorry, I cannot post the pictures here, as they have some URL labels from the breeder on it, but you will find them on my blog. For him, the color inheritance scheme was more important then the question, what species the AB and TT might be.

IMO, we sometimes focus on the wrong findings, as the whole specie questions might shrift from old taxonomy / morphology to DNA analysis in caridina. We must also question some definitions, as what is a Snow White shrimp, what is a Black Tiger and what it a Blue Tiger shrimp.... Alas, this is for scientists more than for keepers and breeders. Shouldn't a breeder focus more on healthiness, colorfulness and patterns than on what-is-what?
it is not about being right or wrong. it is about learning!

    Fascinating article he has.

Is it allowed to link to your blog post elsewhere?

I know that it is technically possible but I don't want to do something rude.

I also love that he clearly defined the internal and external (carapace?) pigmentation.

I have no idea if his assertions are technically or genetically correct (though they seem to make sense) but he did a very good job of explaining his thoughts and processes in a consistent and clear fashion.

Especially impressive since English likely isn't his first language. Translating this type of stuff seems very difficult.

    Thanks for the extra info.

    I fully agree with you.

It would be interesting to research more about "C serrata" group. It's kind of fun to find some common stuff among differents species of shrimps... for example, C. cf cantonensis tiger having a kind of maro ten, the coincidence of some dots, stripes, white parts, behaviour, how hybrids look like... and so on.

So from this news we can conclude they're both Caridina and/or they may be related someway... can't we?

There simply hasn't been enough lab time and detailed scientific research into most of these species of shrimp for the the classifications to be completely reliable.

I don't know much about how the Caridina serrata designation was arrived at or how it was differentiated from caridina cantonensis. Until the Tangerine Tigers and Aura Blues hit the market the most common example of caridina serrata that I know of was the Red Tupfel shrimp so that would be a good place to look to as a starting point I guess.

What we do know though that is that both Tangerine Tigers and Aura Blue shrimp have been linked pretty reliably to caridina serrata and that they are considered color variants of the Tupfel shrimp (caridina serrata).
