Default Aura Blue Shrimp x Tangerine Tiger Shrimp cross

The cross Aura Blue Shrimp x Tangerine Tiger Shrimp is now confirmed, as well as the Tangerine Tiger Cross with Black Tiger OE cross. Both done in Poland by breeder Rafal Maciaszek.

In conclusion, caridina serrata crossing with caridina cantonensis can be assumed for all other subtypes.
it is not about being right or wrong. it is about learning!

Can you show a pic of what TT X BTOE looks like?

Thanks Imke for sharing this with us. This proves the Aura Blue Shrimp is not a new species. It is just a colour variety.

I like to see pictures of the off springs. Is it possible to show them here?

I have seen some verbal confirmation other places as well recently that Aura Blue is a color variant of Caridina Serrata (we already know that Tangerine Tigers are as well).

Mordalphus has berried hybrids between caridina serrata (tangerine tigers) and caridina cantonensis (tigers of some sort IIRC) though I don't know if they have successfully released the clutches yet. Frank Jiang posted some neat pictures of his serrata/cantonensis hybrids a week or two ago though in another forum. I am under the impression that he also needed forced breeding/forced pairing to get the hybridization to occur.

Frank's photos were TT x Crystal. They look mostly like tibee's right now but they are still F1/F2 gen, so its going to take some out breeding to get them to start showing something. Frank is also working on TT x BTOE cross as well. He posted these photos on his blog as well so you can see the hybrids and progress.

I just did some checking - I didn't want to re-post a picture without anyone's permission but I did find that Frank Jiang has put a decent series of photos up on his shrimp blog showing his CRS x Tangerine Tiger hybrids.

    Is the off spring fertile?
Or is it like de forced cross of a horse and a donkey?

This is something that I have been asking.

I guess someone would have to figure out if the number of chromosones are the same and other such biology nonsense that is way over my head.

I get the feeling that it is similar to Tiger Bee (TiBee) crosses. Not as bad as horse/donkey crosses (which can technically result in fertile offspring but it is extremely rare) but also not verified how many generations down the line they remain fertile.

I think that Frank said he already has F2 generation so if I understand the terms correctly (F2 being the result of two F1 parents) that means that the offspring are fertile for atleast one generation. His hybrids are bee shrimp with TTs though. Not sure that anyone has breeding age serrata/tiger hybrids.

Even if tiger shrimp and bee shrimp are technically classified as the same species the difficulty of breeding leads me to believe that there are some significant differences between them even if both are classified as cantonensis.
