For almost a year now I have a group of Caridina cf. babaulti var. “Sripes”, of what I was told wild caught from India. At first they all had stripes, then one, apparently after molting, was brownish without stripes

Now none have stripes but a body color variation going from blue to red/brown, some with a line all along their back. I would say that they are mimicking the colors in the tank (chromatic adaptation) !!! Now my color question is… how do I bring the stripes back??? My water parameters are in accordance for the species.
As far as breeding, I see now and then some young shrimps. I will agree that it takes them forever to grow!!! I would like to see more baby shrimps and was afraid I was doing something wrong… by searching the web I found a lot of nice info, but basically recycling itself over the past years and from all that I read I think I’m on the safe side of thing. Some sites write that this species does not reproduce direct, but rather has a larval stage. I know that it uses a direct type of reproduction in fresh water conditions without a larval stage… so which one is it (in order to get the record straight)?
Do they cannibalize their young? is it possible for other species to do so… I have them together with a few Blue Pearl Shrimps. How much of a factor is feeding (in other words what is best to feed)?
I would very much appreciate input on the topic of keeping and breeding Caridina cf. babaulti var. “Sripes”, especially from people with firsthand experience.
I found the following very informative, if the mods think this should not be here please erase the links:
