I've had no problems with Java Moss, Christmas Moss, Flame Moss, and Erect Moss in my brackish tank. Its eaten by my crabs, but seems to do just fine. No browning or anything like that, and normally a ball will last a month or so before the crabs eat it all up.

Also, FYI I had ordered some moss from AM, and it was confiscated coming into the country.

Thanks. My red claw crab loves java moss. It is her favorite food. When I ordered that earlier in the US, the portion sent me was huge, so when my flame moss from AM slowly browned up most of the way in quarantine after transit (I suspect of victim of the cold transit--had a friend send me willow moss last year unheated and same thing happened), I decided to stick to the java for a while, but that is still good to know. Do your crabs like java fern? Mine likes to eat the leaves in addition to munching on the roots! She is very small and very timid still after a month. I hear it can take quite a while for a tiny female to feel comfortable even in her own crabitat.

No, my fiddler's seem to leave the Java Fern alone. They might be eating the new shoots though, but the tank is very low light so they may just not be growing new leaves. The same two plants have been in there for 6 months, and haven't gotten any larger or smaller that I've noticed.

    Default star moss experiment

Pulled the plug on the star moss experiment yesterday. Both the submerged and merely damped parts had tiny star-like growths, but nothing the size of the pics. With wondering about the seeding thing being cork and having to keep the plastic cage on in the aquarium and just generally being underwhelmed with the whole thing, I tossed the plant. So that was after 4-5 weeks by my reckoning...
