While most do not use Eco-complete for shrimping I use it in 4 of my 5 tanks as it works really well with plants. It does tend to maintain a higher PH unless you have enough bio load with some fish in my experience. In my 3 gallon with Eco-Complete and Crystals and some Rilis I had 3 of them berry up and one of my 4 crystals berried up, a first for me so I am happy. Get yourself a TDS meter/probee as I find this extremely valuable in keeping track of what my tanks are doing and with constant water changes the other parameters seem less important.
