    Default Rili Shrimp Bacterial Infection

    Hey guys,
Just got to this forum. Been lurking alot, finally made an account. Anyways, yesterday I found a dead rili outta nowhere and spotted another rili to what looked like a bacterial infection. Gonna start a 5% daily water change to bring the TDS down to around 180. Its currently at 220.
Sorry about the iPhone pic. What do you guys think I should do?

Just curious... What was the symptom that you determined was a bacterial infection?

The whiteness of the inside of the body. The sudden death of a shrimp. I tested all the parameters and they're fine. All the other shrimp seem ok too so I'm guessing it wasn't something to do with the water.

Hi and welcome here! We have two articles on bacterial infections in the knowledge base: http://www.shrimpnow.com/list.php/ca...ion-and-Health Before starting medicament you can try water changes and alder cones - however, due to my experiences, I would always treat.

I'm not sure if any experts would agree with me here and i'm not sure if its correlation or causation but I think you might consider leaving the TDS adjustments alone for now. Previously I never managed to keep any rilis or fire reds alive as my TDS was 60-80 (crazy, I know). But every since I left the TDS at 160 they've been fine. Any senior able to comment on this? Much obliged

I agree, rilis and neocaridina in general do well with a higher TDS. I keep mine at 180 and try to keep pH at 7. At those settings they breed and appear happy.
