    Default CRS eggs color

    Hey people,
I have a berried CRS in my cherries tank, and her egg's color is black.
is that color ok or she is holding dead eggs?

Pitch black...? They're generally like a dark brownish color.

If the shrimp is just berried for the 1st few days, it should be dark brown. But in the case of yours is black is not usual. Try to observe whether will the eggs change to light colour for days to come.

The egg color in CRS/CBS starts as a general dark brown or even deep red. They will lighten up from orange to yellow and when they get very dark again is because of the developing shrimps eyes. you see them through the shell.
generally at temps of 71-72 F hatching occurs at 28 days, 73-74F 26 days

I've never actually tracked it so I was guessing with my estimate of 30-40 days
