    Default 2 berried RCS died

as the title say my two berried RCS died. it didn't happen in the same day. previously i was out with my family and when i return saw 3 RCS munching on a corpse i let it pass since maybe it is due to old age. then today i saw 1 laying backwards and i waited like 1 minute but no movement was shown. so i scared it a little bit and still doesn't move. then i pick it up saw it was berried and transferred it on a container with age water then i started to scrape the eggs and put a low quality aerator on the container. my water PH is 7.6-7.8 water temp is 29c and other stats i don't know since i lack other test kits. and i observed that others are doing well scraping algae on the tank glass. btw my tank is 50 gallons. what seems to be the problem? i gave them sinking pellets spinach as feeds and that's all.

sorry to hear that, its hard to tell without more detailed information. How long has the tank being running? The temperature of 29 degrees, is that with or without a heater? what substrate and filter are you using?

While I hope that they do, but don't get too upset if the eggs don't end up hatching. The remaining rcs will multiply soon. Given the right environment, rcs are like rabbits.
How many rcs do you have btw? What are their tank mates?

I have 35 RCS 25 females and 10 males. 29c without a heater and river sand. the tank is up last nov 12 so its nearly 2 months since the tank runs. and tank mates are none just all RCS and plants. for filtration i am using a sub pump with 600L/H and an over head filter. filter media is bio balls, wool, activated carbon, ceramic rings, and another wool. btw my temp goes like 29c in the morning to afternoon and will end up 27-28c at night. that is like mild temp change and will not hurt them right? i neither dont have PH swings. if another berried females dies again then there is really something wrong on them. i was so darn sad

You seem to have environment setup right. Could you post a few pics of your tank?

    Your temp is absolutely fine.

What plants do you have in your tank? Were the two dead shrimp the only berried ones, or are there other berried shrimp around as well?

Now there are 3 possible reasons which I can deduce for the deaths:

    1. Freak chance. ... The two shrimp were generally weak and couldn't make it through pregnancy

    2. Infection. ... But theres little chance of that happening in your tank. Unless its a real small tank. But 50gallons is quite big.

    3. Nutrition deficiency ... During pregnancy the nutrition demand of the body increases. If there is lack of food availability in either quantity or quality then high chances of death. How many times do you feed? What plants do you have? Again, some pics of ur tank would help.

At this point I suspect either freak chance or nutrition deficiency to be the reason.

i feed them once daily and fasting on sundays. right now there are 5 RCS berried remaining. i will post pic as soon as i get my cam. and is my feeding time ok? i feed them sinking pellets, locally available on LFS and i think its a local product and they seems to be addicted to it. but i also feed them spinach for their calcium and the the 50g tank is on my room with mild temp changes and i added an aerator in case the temp in my room turns high. i will post pics later. any suggestions if my problem is like Freak chance and Nutrition Deficiency?

    Still can't be sure.

Feeding time is alright. what do your shrimp graze on through the day? Shrimp eat throughout the day. The food you give is actually their secondary source of nutrition.
What plants do you have in your tank? How dense is their growth?

hmmm usually a good amount of java moss ensures that the shrimp have plenty to eat around. guess will just have to wait till you post some pics.

the shrimp scraping on the algae is alright.
