[FONT="Comic Sans MS"][SIZE="4"]Hi ! Would also like to know about lighting for my 8 gallon shrimp tank with size as follows:

20inch (l) x 10inch (b) x 10in (h)


Flora: Marimo Moss ,Java Moss ,Pennywort,Baby tears ,Crypt,Lotus,Water Sprite ,Cabomba, Amazon Sword ,Dwarf Sagitirria, Java fern,

Fauna :5 RCS,15 Indian Rainbow Shrimp(wood), 2assassin Snail, 2 adult platy and 3 babies , 2 adult guppies and 1 baby.

Filter: HOB 360ltr/hour

Currently using 15 w Halonix CFL

pls Suggest the correct wattage to use !!

the main problem is that my tank's temperature is 27 -30 C

Substrate:ControSoil Over Aquaclay and sand


and any suggest plants, lighting ,way to reduce temperature and ways to get good growth .

Which shrimp you planning on housing in there? The ideal temp for shrimp is 25°C. However if its only rcs you'r keeping then temp is no major concern. They're quite hardy and adaptable like guppies. Just try to get you tank as green as possible.

Also you can consider removing the adult platy and guppy for a while till the shrimp population and your plant cover increases. Cos they will definitely eat the baby shrimp.

i have removed guppy and platy!! now a shrimp only will 2 platy fry born 2 day old! and removed diy co2 ! increased lighting from 15 w to 23w CFL For 8hours running a HOB ! my tank now has greenspot algae on glasses!! shall i add ottos and some algae on driftwood!!

one week (update)

shrimps show better colour but!! oil film appearing in the surface!! any ideas to clear it !! HOB is not able to remove it
ambulia on the left and cabomba on the right !! reducing temperature till 26.3 c using sun sun fan on the top , white hairs on peila moss !! are these rhizoids. or any algae,

Pearling Powder (a white powder a friend of mine gave me ) since he's moving (but scared to try it in shrimp tank ( in fear of copper contents in it) has anyone used it he had bought that from kolathur a month ago . appear to be a white powder .
