In situation like this maybe good to have larger >20% water change if you suspect it was water quality issue.
Vacuum of gravel for CRS tank maybe risky as it will remove some of the beneficial bacteria during the process and induce (possibly) an ammonia spike and that could do more harm to the shrimps.
    Just my 2 cents.
Hi Jin, sorry I didn't take any photos of the dead shrimps. But I also saw alike situation in the forums when i search it. I'm afraid is not from here because that day I googled a lot to find solutions. Until now so far no casualties so doesn't matter anymore, sick shrimps died and survivors thrived.
I am just assuming the bacterias are in the soil because the shrimps tend to jump away from one particular spot on the ground, as if something stung on them. The spot is where the food normally drops.
Will monitor for more moltings and look for dead shrimps (if any). Probably can settle down once the cherries can be pregnant! I saw some saddle female cherries.
No hope for the healthy female CRS though. The only survivor. Colors are bright, eating healthy, but no companion. Alas...

I would shoot for a TDS of 150 for CRS, but you will probably do fine up to 200. I think that 250 is too high, and this could be related to your molting problems. You may want to mix your tap water with RO water or distilled water in order to lower TDS. Otherwise, active soils like Akadama Double Red Line will lower TDS. Make sure that your GH doesn't get lower than 3, though. Good luck!

Could they be planaria? I have read before that planaria will kill shrimp after moulting...

If that were true, I would not have any shrimp left. I have planaria in many of my tanks, and my shrimp are doing fine.

My shrimps are dying after their molting. About my crs that's dying now, I noticed his molt has his red colors on him. My ph is 6.92: TDS: 166, Temp:75f KH:3 GH:4 I use ro water for water changes. 30% a week. What's wrong? Is there lack of calcium? Please help!

Maybe this time you could take a photo of your dead shrimp and see if there is lump at the back between head and body? Also at both side of gills are spread open?
