Default Help needed - Shrimp die after molting

Hi, could anyone share some thoughts of how to prevent my shrimps from dying after molting?
I have been monitoring this situation for a month now. Everytime a shrimp molt, they will begin to struggle for quite a few hours and eventually died off.

I believe my tank is having an parasite / bacteria infection but what do i do to keep the rest of the shrimp survive? Having a really bad time and stress. Please help

I was too stressed to introduce my water parameters :
    PH : 6.0
    KH : 0
    GH : 5
    Nitrate : 10
    Ammonio : 0
    Temp : 25 C
    TDS : 250

I know it is cause by bacteria because all of the dead shrimp have a meat lump at the back and near the back of its tail.
They suffer a lot and struggling before dying. It is so sad to watch them die that way and unable to do anything... painful experience...

    Hello,

    Your nitrate is 10?
That should preferably be around 0 as low as possible. Shrimp are extremely sensitive to nitrate/nitrite... Perhaps that is the reason why they are dying.

    Take care,

    Joey

Now left 1 CRS and a few cherries. Changing the water by 1 liter everyday on my 20 liter tank. Done the gravel vacuum. Seems like shrimps can molt without dying. Only feeding them with little food twice a day. Let's see if there are any more casualties. Will monitor the nitrates after 1 week water change. Thanks!

Your TDS seems too high to me. What do you use for water? Do you use RO water? If so, perhaps you should examine your unit to see if it is working properly.

I use tap water with added dechlorine. Tap water is 100 TDS. GEX soil, a driftwood and some moss plants in the tank. How many TDS would you suggest is suitable?
    Thanks

Maybe I will suggest you to top up your water using distilles water instead of tap water and monitor for a few weeks and see is there any more causualty.

    hello
i live in hawaii and the tap water here is better than bottled water.
i used to have the same problem with bkk and crs cbs. i added extra sponge filters and added more rocks and mineral powder.
also the temperature could be the problem.
i notice moltings all the time now a lot more around the full moon.

    limsheng,
Do show us pic of dead shrimp if you have and it may shed some lights of the cause of dead.
In situation like this maybe good to have larger >20% water change if you suspect it was water quality issue.
Vacuum of gravel for CRS tank maybe risky as it will remove some of the beneficial bacteria during the process and induce (possibly) an ammonia spike and that could do more harm to the shrimps.
    Just my 2 cents.

Hi, I am not sure whether the tap water here is affecting shrimps health. At the same time I'm having a dilemma of adding minerals to water, if I'm not wrong minerals = TDS up?
Perhaps I could consider adding one canister filter as of now I am only using one hang on filter.
More moltings around full moon? That's interesting. Will monitor this around these days.
These few days saw a lot tiny wriggling worm like creature, probably coming out of the soil to find food?
