    Hi ! Nice tank & shrimps ! Do you know your tap water parameters ? Just wondering how that substrate works...I got slightly soft water from my tap,but a high ph value.

    I have not yet done any testing on my tap water but will very soon. I will post results on here within 24 hours.

    By the way, Thank you for the compliment, and my shrimp would not be nearly as happy if it wasnt for ShrimpNow and it's members with all the great information!

    Sorry for the delay. My tap water values are as follows:

    ph- 7.8
    ammonia- 0ppm
    nitrite- 0ppm
    nitrate- 10-20ppm
    gH- 7dkh
    kh- 3dkh

    these numbers are with testing water straight from the tap with no aging period.

    Ph - 8,4 !
    Gh - 7-8 -3,5dH
    Kh - 6
    No2 - 0,025...

    And i can tweak it down to : Ph 6,4
    Gh 6
    Kh 4
    No2 0,025...
    This is my Cb tank.
    Using no active soil...

    I'm amazed you can get a pH that low without any active substrate!
