Does anybody have experience of this plant?

I had, but only on an outside pond, very good looking plant, easy to grow up

well, mine turned red during low temps, reaching a minimum of -3 celsius, and survive, not sure if it can handle lower temps

I suspect that the troubles I am having with this lovely floating plant are down to the quality or quantity of light that I can give it.

Yes it need at least 5-6 hours of direct sunlight to grow like it can be....imho is one of the best looking plant you can have in a pond!
