Question The infamous white fungus on my driftwood....

So with my new driftwood came the infamous white fungus growing on it. From what Ive read, it is harmless. I am now starting to see what looks like traces of this fungus on my java moss which is tied to the driftwood. I understand the fungus is rather harmless to the shrimp but will it harm the java moss?

do you have any shrimps inside?
i also had the fungus growing, but once i started populating my tank with livestock, the fungus got eaten by the CRS.
i should think they are harmless

Yes. At the moment I only have 1 Crystal Red and 1 Crystal Black but they dont seem to munch on it at all.

Mine ate it all. Cleaning it will only make it come back the very next day.

Here is a rather poor photo of my Java Moss. Any Ideas? Should I be worried?

i experienced this before but wat i did was i didnt plant anything on a new drift wood. if the drift is stable already then thats the time u attach plants on it. clownloaches love that white slime or fungi or watsoever. or any other pleco.

if the java moss will turn into brown and will be eaten by the white slime then u shud be worried. if not so let it be.

never ever put shrimps in a tank that is not stable maybe it will not survive.

let the driftwood be soaked and aged correctly before putting some plants over it. HTH.

The Java is trying to soldier on. When I return from work everyday I am noticing light green "buds" of what looks to be new growth. I am hoping the Java Moss will win this battle. Say the java does not win, will the remnants become toxic?

just observe it and also check ur paramaters maybe it will create a sudden change of ur paramters and ur tank will be wiped out. monitor ur tank and if it does affect ur shrimps much better u remove the driftwood and let it aged and soaked well before u plant new java moss and other plants. good luck.

Do you think the infected moss might be "promoting" the fungus in a sense?
