Default BTOE and Red Tiger shrimp dying

I had all 3 of my BTOE shrimp die last night and not sure why. The have been doing fine since I got them 3 days ago. They were in and established tank that housed blue tiger shrimp no problem. Today I woke up and they were dead and had read on their heads.

Not sure the temp or GH and KH, but ammonia is 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 5 PH 6

The Red Tigers only saw 1 dead 1 is totally missing and the other is still alive and looks fine

Can you check other params - temp is important and so GH/KH. Were these newly added 3 days ago. How did you acclimatize them and had they been in transit long?

No matter what shrimps they are, they will experience a lot stress during their transit. In most case, they won't die immediately, but a few days later after their arrival. A good gauge of their survival will be a week later.

Yup, just getting them alive in the bag isn't really enough. The week test is a good test to know.

the red on their head is common when they die. i have found a couple that have died that will turn all red over a couple hours. i normally dont remove them and just let the rest eat them so i have been able to watch. my colony is in 30's now

    Hi,

If You got them from a seller who kept them in pH 7-7.5 Im not surprised that they are dying in pH 6.
How long did You acclimated them?

    Merry Xmas!

The change in PH does seem the likely culprit that is a major change

    Hi,

Im not an expert but pH 7 and pH 6 its huge difference. According to this: http://www.sensorex.com/support/more...ical_education and my small knowledge.
Maybe not critical factor but if You did not spend enough time for acclimating - shrimps responded very bad...

Of course I can be completely wrong.
