    Default Planted nano shrimp tank

Im going to be setting up a nano shrimp tank, but I want it to be planted and lush. Ive been looking at the fluval ebi (http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/aq...arium-kit.html) and fluval flora tanks (http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/aq...plant-kit.html)

Both come with substrate one is fluval shrimp stratum, the other is fluval plant stratum. Ive looked at descriptions for both and the write ups are almost identical.

So im wondering what the difference is?

I would assume the plant is better for plants but is it actually good for shrimp and vice versa

    Hello!

I actually was wondering the same thing before I chose fluval stratum shrimp.
I compared it online in the shop where I was getting it from and it seems like in the plant stratum there are extra nutrients added for the plants.

I can only tell you about fluval stratum shrimp, and it works really great for me. It has a PH lowering capability that adjusts the ph to the preferred level for shrimp.

It's very fine substrate, small pellets, easily crushed so care should be taken with it when used.

I recommend putting it in a colander and gently clean it of small dust particles, it can really make your water brown as ink if you don't.
My plants get additional nutrients and do great in this substrate. Plants with short stubby roots need some handywork as it sometimes can come loose.

With my long stemplants I haven't had problems, also it's shrimp friendly, the small pellets also act as a place where good bacteria thrive.

I personally am very happy with my choice.

I hope you found this useful.

    Goodluck take care

    Joey
