Default [al4n] - My Shrimps from AUS

    Hello All,
Been on the forums for about a month now, finally had some time to post my own thread to share with you guys.

I have been keeping for only a short while and have learnt so much about keeping shrimps. Ideally i would like to move on keeping CRS & CBS the more expensive stuff

    My Setup
    2FT Tank
    72 LEDs lighting - White & Blue
Aquaclear HOB - stock media + purigen
    Shrimp Sand
    Various plants background plants
    Xmas,Taiwan & Flame moss
    CO2 injected @ 1bps w/Flourish 1-2 times weekly
    Azoo Max bioballs

    Shrimp diet
Freshly boiled - Mulberry & Spinach Leaves
A range of AZOO shrimp food
    Shirakura shrimp food

I completely rescaped my tank on the 15/10/11 - This photo is 1 week later

Shrimps i have in there at the moment are
    Caridina sp_Gulf1 "Darwin Red-Nose Shrimp"
    Caridina_sp_WA_4 "North Australian Chameleon Shrimp"
    Red Cherry Shrimp

I'm not too sure on numbers as they breed like crazy, i have shrimplets everywhere in the tank 4 weeks of having them. The Chameleon change their patterns frequently to a dark/stripe or even clear, it's hard to tell if they are cherries or chameleons. Below are some shots i have taken over the weeks, hope you guys like it. Feeding time is crazy, they fight for food DSC04428.jpg

    Thanks for looking..

Hi al4n, thanks for opening this thread - I found it very interesting reading about native Australian shrimp! Is it true that the Caridina sp_Gulf1 "Darwin Red-Nose Shrimp" breed in freshwater? Which water parameter do they require in general? Keep us updated with more shots! Thanks, dude
it is not about being right or wrong. it is about learning!

The Darwins will carry the eggs in fresh water, but none of the shrimplets will survive as they need half strength salt water and food readily available to attach too afaik.. someone can correct me if im wrong..

Hi al4n. Beautiful setup u got there. May I ask what brand of led lighting are u using? I'm thinking of purchasing the up aqua 45 cm led light, which also have 72 LEDs (white n blue). Are the plants growing well with the led light?

    Regards

    John

John, plants seem to be okay with the led lighting everything is growing as usual. The brand is Beamworks.
