Question Recommended Tank Size for OEBTs?

I know, "the bigger, the better." But is a 40g tank overkill? Would a 20g be enough? I'm looking at my empty 40g, and it just seems so big for dwarf shrimp. I have two shrimp tanks already, and they're both 10g, but I've heard OEBTs are extra sensitive so...

Wow, I would be too nervous to keep them in a 5 gallon! Isn't it hard to keep the water parameters/quality stable enough? They're pretty hard shrimp to keep from what I've read. But CRS/CBS are supposed to be hard too and I'm succesfully keeping both of those in 10g tanks, so I suppose it's not that surprising. How difficult are OEBTs in comparison?

Also, how many OEBTs did you start with? Did you lose any initially? Are they breeding well now in the 5g? I was thinking of putting them in a 20g long or a 40g breeder haha. But I don't think I'm going to order them until Spring now because of the cold weather... well, atleast that gives me more time to save up money so I can start with a bigger colony!

Oh, also, how fast do they breed? I know I can look this up online, but I want to know, in your experience, how many babies does one mother lay? How fast do you think a starting colony of say... 30 or so would triple? Thanks!

i really cant compare how hard they are cause the only time i have kept crystals i lost them a week after getting them do to power going out for 2 weeks.

i just started with 6 shrimp 1/4 inch in size they didnt breed untill july and i got mine if feb. they breed ok. im not sure i dont keep track of who is berried or how many i get. i just watch them cause they sit next to my bed. i did notice that at higher temps i have to feed more do to them eating each other when they molt. i lost 3 shrimp last week due to not watching temps and underfeeding. i posted pics of mine. one thing i do know is they need a darker substrate to stay really dark. when i had them on black sand all i ever saw was little orange balls. when i moved to light sand they were more blue so i tossed some black sand in and its a pepper look now and they get really dark and i can still see them

I have kept these with limited success, i now finally have a group of about 12 that are happy, but not reproducing yet...fingers crossed. I compare this to my CRS colony that started with 10 and now is over 80 shrimp and 5 more female currently berried!

so far no probs i started out my original 6 in a 1.5 gal cube tank with black sand and since i could never see anything but orange eyes i moved them to the 5 gal hex and discovered i have prob 20 or so shrimp . i tend to stay on the smaller side with my tanks keeping mostly 10 gallon and under.
