I've been running UP shrimp sand(the micro version) in a tank for a bit now. I can say that it's probably one of the easiest substrates I've ever planted in. The M. quadrifolia is really spreading quickly through it. It also seems to have locked in the parameters in the tank, pH stays at a constant 6. It looks fantastic. It's incredibly durable, to a point where I don't see this stuff ever turning to mush. It's quite light, so any high flow areas are going to get blown around.
I haven't gotten any shrimp in this tank yet though, so I'll reserve comments related to shrimp for a later date(blue pearls going into this tank tomorrow).

What are the different layers you have used here?

No layers, It's all shrimp sand(micro).

Can I add this sand into my current tank? I've got gravel at the moment and looking to lower pH.

I don't see why you couldn't; however, It's meant to be used as the sole substrate, so it'd probably be most effective by itself.
