I use both Tap and RO water, tap water where i'm from(BC) is PH 7-7.2 & GH/KH if i can remember correctly is 0-1...
RO system should be your key to success with soil that buffers down PH/GH/KH. I also have an RO system and from PH 7.2(tap water) it goes down to 6.3PH and KH/GH of 0 also TDS is 0.

What's wrong with picking my nose... it builds OPTIMISM when i'm trying to get the sometimes elusive TPS . And when i do , it builds CREATIVITY when i try moulding it into something with my index and thumb before it dries up and crumbles . And it builds AGILITY when i try to flick it into someone's hair. What's not to love...
Thank you Alvin, i have been working with these strain because as you know it is very difficult to acquire PLR's here in Canada and if i could it will not be cheap. I will see what happens to this line because the shrimps you see are the F1 and the first F1 female is now berried i will see what happens in the next generations.

Yeah.. I understand.. If getting PRL is difficult, then trying to improve/enhance the genes might be a problem right? But based on the photos, they look really good for a start...
Is it only the first photos are PRL? Those flower head are actually those from your selective breeding?

Both genes was produced in years of keeping crs, maybe even from my first low grade crs and i have mixed them through the years only letting the ones i like breed. I hope i can continue to enhance what i have in mind in the near future because the F2(since i started with a new tank for selective breeding) that i see have very promising future, they look to be shrimps that are A-B grade but have nice red legs which is my target in the beginning of this journey. I hope from here i can take the best ones and start the process again.
The flower heads is selected not only for the pattern but ALL white legs and the thickness/whiteness of them. Yes, they are selected for over 2 years from my old breeding stock.
I had a major issue with the tank they were inn as they stopped breeding for me since i had no time in the last few months. I neglected my tanks for about half a year because of personal issues, few weeks ago i tested my TDS on this tank and it says 200ppm and then it hit me to test the GH using API and to my surprise the GH was 0-1 with such a high TDS(the mistake is using RO right which raises my TDS and not raise my GH, i tested this in a controlled manner with RO water comparing to mosura mineral plus). So from now on i will not use that product and just stick with mosura mineral plus. I also noticed after adjusting the GH to 5 and do water change 2x in one week, now after a week or so i see 6 berried females and they seem to be more happy.

You have a very systematic selective breeding system to achieve these results... Mind giving me an explanation on how you do your selective breeding for the PRL and also how many tanks did you use for the whole process, it will be good to exchange some pointers... Maybe via PM?
Guess we in Asia is luckier that we can jump start couple of years by getting some better grades and patterns which doesn't cost that much & start selective breed from there...
Oh my... It doesn't sound very good with high TDS but such low GH.. But I am happy to hear that you have managed to improve their parameter and hope that you will have another battalion of nice flowerheads babies soon...
