Question Royal Mail & Sending Shrimp

Does anyone know if Royal Mail covers shrimp under it's insurance when sending via Special Delivery within the UK?

They say it covers "fish fry" so would that include shrimp fry?

Has anyone ever had to claim?

Any help would be appreciated as I have send some shrimp and I am terrified of any dying

wouldnt bank on you getting what its really worth. Take in to consideration that royal mail would not look at grading...!

Maybe email someone in royal mail to see if it classes fish fry in the same league as shrimp.

Yea was thinking that, however I don't think I would have to prove value if I can show an invoice, like paypal.

The real problem is that as Mickdeja says: what do they class shrimp as?

When making deliveries by postal system, you can pay an insurance for the value of the goods.
It is rather for the loss of the shipment, I do not think that covers the possible deaths of their shrimp.

Ah, but it covers damage or insuring the shipment to be in the state it was sent.

Yup so it seems it's fine to send live dry as long as you label it as such & nowhere does it say live goods are not covered:

Live creatures are: Bees, Leeches, Pupae and Chrysalides, Caterpillars, Lugworms, Rag worms, Earthworms, Maggots, Silkworms, Fish fry and Fish eggs, Mealworms, Crickets, certain Parasites and destroyers of Noxious Pests, and some other insects sent between recognised institutions are allowed. You must use boxes that protect both the creatures and Royal Mail staff from harm. Use First Class as the minimum service and clearly label the package as "URGENT - LIVING CREATURES". Mark the sender's name and address on the outer wrapping.

Ive got a form to claim at the moment, as the 20 shrimp i had delivered last week by next day delivery had been crushed and all the water had leaked out. only 2 survived you need proof of value eg. reciept, bank statement, you need to return the pakaging and contents (if safe to do so) and they want to know loads of other stuff too. its really a pain in the butt to do. but i feel it needs doing.
