    Default New Sulawesi Setup

    Hi All

I was not very satisfied with my old setup being in the rack outside in my Balcony, decided to start a new setup in the rack in my guest room.

    Tank Detail:

    Size: 18(L)x15(B)x15(H) Inches
Substrate: 70% White Silica Substrate mixed with 30% Coral Sand
Rocks: Some sort of porous rocks used in Cichlid Tank Setups, Not sure of the type
Filter: Air Driven Sponge Filter, There is a box of crushed coral right below the filter and hidden from view with rocks.
Light: 36 Watts PLL kept on for 11 Hrs

    Water Parameters:

    pH: 8.3
kH & gH: Havent measured yet. (Need some good recommendation on what these values should be)

    Inhabitants:

I previously had 4 Tylo Sp Orange Snails and Had got a conignment of Cardinal Shrimps , but out of the 20 that came im left with only 1. Today i got 5 more Tylo Sp Orange. Will be getting Cardinal Shrimps once again within a month or so, Hopefully this tank would have matured quite well by then. Any suggestions is most welcome.

Below are a few pictures of the setup and inhabitants

Made some additions to the tank yesterday and today, Added some Jack Fruit Leaves yesterday and more rocks and driftwood today. Some more cardinals will arrive in 2-3 weeks time and hopefully the tank would have matured well for them. The lone cardinal shrimps seems to be doing good so far and from the past 3 days in exploring the tank instead of hiding under the sponge filter. This is how the tank looks as of today.

The snails enjoy lounging on the leaves and there was this one leaf which was much more seasoned than the rest , the snails seemed to love eating this leaf, below is a picture of the leaf with portions in the middle which were eaten.

    Regards

    Ram

Nice! We had those Poso snails here in Alberta but they are just too expensive and never moved around. Keep us updated!

    Thanks

I have 9 of these snails and they are quite active, always climbing on the rocks and sides of the glass, They are very slow off course , but quite entertaining sometimes

I know! Their skin color is unique too. But can't get any good ones here in Alberta. The ones I saw in BigAls haven't moved for over 2 weeks (I'm pretty sure since they are always in a cluster at a corner) So if I get any I'm pretty sure they'd die on me. But such a waste cause Alberta water is like 7.8-8.0, perfect for Sulawesi shrimps
