    There are also a bit of crushed shell in the substrate that buffers the water to 7.8ish, but I mainly use the alkaline buffer to raise the PH for water change water.
    I read from Joydiv's post on substrate. In his post, he talked about water in the sulawesi lake is basically high pH with low TDS or GH. Using coral sand will increase TDS much more then coral chips or stones.

    Thanks for sharing your experience aelysa, did you post the document with the steps for how you set up your tank?
    Been trying to gather some info from those that have been successful with Sulawes shrimp.
