I was quite happy this afternoon as at last I bought my first shrimps, (except for some Amino that climbed out the tank and died in a few hours)
They were called blue shrimp by the fish shop and I thought a bargain at one uk pound each. I asked for the Latin name and was told Caridinina babaulti.
They have a speckled base colour - brownish, and a brown patch on the shoulder and back. This is overlaid with a bright inky blueness, stronger in some places on each shrimp. Looking at the blue colour and the fact that they keep trying to climb up out the air line, I'm begining to wonder if I have dyed amino shrimp?
Sorry these photo's are not very clear but the best I could do after trying all afternoon. Can you tell from the shape?
