ok i recieved 12 tylo snails and i have lost all but 5 and they dont seem to be doing well...i have the temp at 80 degrees, ph at 7.8, not sure on gh and kh right now but will be checking that tonight...problem being they dont seem to eat but the bigger problem is they havnt moved in 2 days but i do seem them some what hanging out of their snail...so they are very inactive...i have had them in 2 different tank...upon arrival i acclimated them in first tank..they were very active...then became non active...then moved them to their own tank with more proper conditions...first day moved into new tank very active and then by next day little movement..then over the next couple days no movement...im using inert pool filter sand and crushed coral to bring up the ph...i read to do a partial water change in case the tds,gh,or kh could be to high...i did that..i did about 30% water change...still no activity...am i overlooking something or am i doing something wrong? im still new to these guys and i dont want to loose them...they are juvi yellow rabbits...im running a sponge filter...and i think ive mentioned all aspects of tank..please help if anyone knows anything i can do

Writing from personal experience, and this may not be the general case, what you just described is what was the case with my Tylo… I did not know what else to do and thus left the tank system running as it should be in order to host me Tylo snails. From the 3 Tylo snails I lost the 2… all were active during the first few days, then the 2 were very slow and eventually inactive but alive. After a few weeks they died. The one that was acting normal from day one is doing o.k. and is moving, looking for food ect all about the tank. I did not change anything. I think that they are very sensitive snails when it comes to changing their aquarium and although they may be doing fine, when moved to another aquarium they may die…
Hope you have a good number surviving from which you can build up your numbers.

Snail leeches might be your problem. Tylomelania snails are notorious for being infected with snail leeches due to the leeches being endemic to the area the snails are harvested from.
The leeches make the snails lethargic and eventually kill them. The problem is, they're most of the time INSIDE the shell of the snail, slowly draining them of life.
A strong salt bath will make the leeches come out of the shell and will determine if you, in fact, have a leech problem.

The guy I bought these from off a forum said that they are all tank raised. I'm thinking my gh and kh might be out of wack.. But can I give them a salt bath without hurting snails just to make sure? Also how strong should salt mix be?

There are many people having your struggle.
Here is a thread concerning snail leeches: http://www.shrimpnow.com/forums/showthread.php/7931-Loosing-tylos-to-snail-leeches
Also, buying somethign from a forum and hearing they're tank raised, does not mean they don't have snail leeches. GH and KH even out of whack will still not kill that many snails in a little amount of time. You'd see shell degradation and obvious signs that the snails are dying.

My poso orange tylos were infected with some sort of parasite. It may have been snail leetches but at the time I thought it was flukes. At any rate, they were hidden under the snails shells until one day when I noticed hydra n my take. I treated the tank with dog dewormer and killed the hydra but then I noticed 3 brightly colored orange flukes/leeches on one of the snails. By day two of the treatment I noticed that the parasites had fallen off the snails and onto the substrate. I picked them out of the tank with a net and mic'd them. Very interesting indeed. No further problems and my tylos have been growing and breeding like crazy. Hope this helps....I never knew the parasites were there until I treated my tank and they came out of the snails shell. Good luck.

well i dippd the snails into a strong saltwater dip and left them in for roughly 10 mins...i looked very carefully for anything coming out of shell but nothing came out of the shell not even the snails...nothing moved at all...so the snails are either dead or very close to being dead....didnt see any type of parasite on or in the shells...not sure what to do now...no snails left and now im at that deciding point either i buy more or give up...im not a person who likes to give up....another thing i was curious about was when they were shipped to me the person didnt have heat packs to send with the snails...now it has been chilly here...in low 50's ...now could the initial shipping have messed them up so bad that they couldnt recover or made them to weak to eat and they died because of those reasons... well if anyone has any tylos for sale let me know...i'm going to give it another attempt
