Hi all,
is it Caridina sp. "new bee" shrimp?
If you see, I have a few threads regarding some "bumble bee" shrimp I got.
I found out that mine are in fact 4 different shrimp. Still do not know which is which.
I think if the first band is white it might be a new bee. Not sure. There are more experts over here and I am pretty sure they will give their opinions.
It is so difficult to me to really separate them.
Cheers,
Pedro

Hi Daudin,
yes your shrimp looks like a new bee shrimp. In Germany bumblebee and new bee shrimps are sold both as "Hummelgarnelen". This is wrong because they are two different species. BTW, I got no hybrids yet.
But not all German breeders notice these slightly differences or they don't want to see it. So in Europe you can get both species often with the same name.

Hi Robert,
thank you for your reply. I bought them as bumblebees in Czech republic, but probably they were imported from Germany. I have about 35 adult specimens. They thrive and breed without any problem. You wrote „I got no hybrids yet.“ Does it mean you try to interbeed bumlebee and new bee shrimps experimentally or you never saw hybrids or individuals with mixed traits where determination was uncertain or impossible?
Do you know origin of C.japonica/multidentata in Europe? Are they catched in nature or bred in hatcheries in Asia or here in Europe?
