I would like to add Kent Freshwater Plant solution to my planted tanks as fertilizer. However, two of my tanks have shrimp in them: a community tank with Amanos and a shrimp only tank with a couple CRS and a dozen red cherries. Among the ingredients are small amounts of metals, including copper. Has anyone else used this? Are there any other liquid fertilizers that people would suggest for shrimp tanks? Thanks.

Hello rymeyer, I have no experience with Kent's product but do add Plantex CSM+B (which has trace metals) to my tanks with Cherry and Amano shrimp. I've also used BigAls Plant trace and Flourish without ill effect.

Thanks for the reply. At another forum, I learned that these small amounts of metal in fertilizer aren't harmful so long as they come in a chelated form. It seems like it will be safe to go ahead and use Kent.

I advice highes caution using of ferilizers. RCS can be tolerant, but CRS are really very sensitive. :undecided

I haven't noticed my Crystal Reds being sensitive to fertilizers when used in recommended way, I have written about it in here (http://www.shrimpnow.com/forums/showthread.php?t=782) and about my CRS in here (http://www.shrimpnow.com/forums/showthread.php?t=347). Good luck with the ferts and shrimps rymeyer, I already answered in the other forum about this subject, so I won't write it again here. :)
