Female swimming like crazy when releasing babies

Hello everyone,

I have just observed a female cherry darting around the tank. When I had a closer look, it turned out it is releasing babies. I have already got used to males swimming around a lot, but this female was really twice as fast, thrashing about and crashing into objects on its way. Has enyone had such a situation? Is it a normal behaviour when releasing babies or should I expect this shrimp shall be dead when I check tomorrow?

Hi Annya, no I don't think that is normal behavior. When I see shrimp releasing shrimplets, they are usually between some leaves or on the ground under java moss.

How is she now? Have things settled down?

Have you checked your waters parameters? I have seen a few swimming around when realising babies but not crashing with everything in the tank. Is the shrimp in question still alive?

Everything turned out fine with that shrimp. :) :) :) She is sound and kicking, released her babies, and now behaves perfectly normally. Thank you for all the feedback
