Hi,im gonna try to breed sulawesi shrimp...i was wondering...is i use coral chips at the bottom and have soil on top of it...will the pH swing madly? currently testing out in a 2ft tank...currently pH is 7.7 around there and GH is 3-4....anyone bred sulawesi shrimp using soil and coral bits as pH buffer?

You kind of have to experiment with the amount of coral you have to achieve the correct ph. I had too much aragonite sand and it made my ph go to almost 9, some varieties will not berry. For a ten gallon I use 2 cups of sand mixed with inert smooth gravel to buffer the ph. Good luck!

what sulawesi species have you succesfully breed? what is your parameters? :)

I try to keep the Ph close to 8 (7.8-8), Temp 78f. I use distilled mixed with 1 tsp montmorillonite to change water and top off so tds is really low.
