Hi, I need advise from experience hobbyist who'd used the above.

I saw some lfs selling black-colored sand for around $3/kg. These sand are black in color and somewhat shiny and sized around 1mm. Think it will look great with cherries and CRS against this black-colored sand.

Looks like plastic or quartz to me.

Anyone who knows or used this sand before, pls share your views/comments/experience if it is suitable for shrimp tank of cherries and CRS.

As long as they don't interfere with the water parameters, i guess it's ok.

If is it the same as blue/red/yellow sand available in LFS so there should be no problem, people have it in tanks and no problems. On the other hand, I don't like this nonnatural materials. Tank should be mirror of nature and colored sand should be only hardly found there :) What to youse AdaSoil or something like that?

I also use black sand. The colors of the shrimps are great on that dark ground. Many shrimps will lose there colors on a light ground (camouflage)!
Dark brown looks more natural and is also nice of course..

Black assorb heat faster than other colors. So, just take good care of the water temperature will do.

I'm using black gravel (seize > 2mm) and don't have any bad experiences.
I think black sand should also be alright.

I don't think shrimp are picky about the type of substrate/gravel you use, UNLESS it alters the water's chemistry to cause spikes of diff't nitrogen compounds. Black helps colors stand out more though... that's for sure.

Yup. Agreed with all comments above.

Just setup my shrimp tank with black sand. Cherries looks more striking against black background then before (was lapis sand).

Going for CRS soon :D
