Hi all,

how many adults or youngs Caridina sp. 'tiger' per liter may I have in tank without any my concern about them? I have special shrimp tank without any other animals. There is many refuges. I feed them rich and clean daily. Are any consequences of overcrowdening? Thank for reply.

Hi,
what size does your tank have? What kind of filtration do you use? Are there snails?

I wouldn't keep more than 10 shrimps per liter in a well filtered and aerated tank with a weekly water change. Over-crowding results in less offspring and slower growth of the younger shrimps. So if you keep too much shrimps in the tank you get less in the end.

regards

Hello Robert,

my tank has about 40 l. Inner device and equipment consist eheim 2006 filter, slate plates as refuges, beech leaves and luxuriant Vesicularia dubyana plant. Temperature is about 23 °C, photoperiod 12:12. I feed shrimps by several types of flakes mainly with spirulina. I give them small pieces of beef heart too. I remove faeces a change 1/3 tank volume every day. Just now I have in the tank twenty adults and approximately two hundred youngs - from fresh hatched to one centimeter. They proliferate very quikly!!!
