View Full Version : Neocaridina Catagory in the 'Shrimp Species Specific' Section?

I've been wondering if we could get a Neocaridina species section in the Shrimp species section of the forums. We have special sections for CRS (and other bee shrimp species), tiger shrimp and Sulawesi, but nothing for Neocaridina shrimp.

I know that they have a reputation for being 'newbie shrimp' but I think that with all the new breeds coming out like painted fire red and blue fire they deserve a section for themselves.

+2... fabulous idea. With the new developments and increased interest in this genus, it makes very good sense.

We have Species section.
If we have subsections for everything, why have Species section? But I am not against, only maybe Species could be locked and new treads will be located in group related sections only. Two possible sections are a bit mischmashing.

That is really weird, I just went into general topics to request the exact same thing! I love this genus and considering that there are sections for specific species like tiger shrimp I don't think it would be too much to ask for a section for this genus. There are color strains coming left and right for neocaridina, especially in heteropoda. I've been trying to update as much as I can in the species section but that is so general that everbody posts in there, almost as much as general topics!

I agree, if there's too many subsections for every little thing the forum would be a reck but this is different... Its a whole genus, not just a subsection or a single species. As said bee shrimp and tiger shrimp get a whole section so a genus that is rapidly expanding in color strains and even species deserves some section. I love the forums here but being a breader and researcher of neocaridina I feel it is a great idea

Thank you blacksheep998, I completely agree
Best regards, Zane

I agree it makes sense to have a catagory for it. Of course I also agree if you go too far into it the forum would be a mess, but especially with the Neocardina being so common, and new strains happenening, it only makes sense to make a spot just for them.

I know for a fact it is the only shrimp many people in my area can or will keep and breed . I have decided to promote them and a section here make's good sense . I love the CRS and all the new expensive type's but when it come's to selling it is 95% inexpensive shrimp that the average aquariast buy's . That said would most of those people come on here to look for help or advice ? Maybe not . Another question is this forum for specialized information or promoting shrimp keeping to the general public ? Or Both . I would vote to have them listed but trying to see both side's

I agree with you and support the idea of a neocaridina sub-forum. I will suggest it to the admin, but this make take a while as the whole shrimpnow team is very busy with jobs and so right now.

Aura Blues are Caridina. There is now a blue variant of Neocaridina heteropoda, but it is different than the Aura Blue.
