Turtle Block in snail tank

I have started using Nutrafin Turtle conditioner in my snail/shrimp/muscle tank. Anyone else do the same? I figure it is an easy way to add calcium, and since it comes in a dissolving block form with it's own buffers I don't worry about it changing the ph. I have seen both the shrimp and snails "grazing" on it. I was also thinking of getting a block that has idodine. I know the debates on the benefits of it in the water column, but can a little bit hurt?

I know people who add calcium for turtles to the tank, and their get snail with perfect shells.

When I live the water is really hard, then I don´t need it.
