Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the Coolworks Ice Probe and has some kind of DIY setup for that ice probe being mounted on a bracket in the top of the tank or HOB.

I have no experience with ice probes but I just wanted to say thanks for letting me know if their existence. I'd been worrying I was going to have a hard time keeping my BT tank cool in the summertime.

Ahh yes. But do note it's not a "full-blown" chiller and only works by bringing down the temperature of your water based on the ambient temperature of the tank's surroundings. So, if you are barely a few degrees from optimum, then it'll work well for you. Plus, its definitely gonna be alot smaller than any other chiller out there. So yep! Good luck with it.

I bought 2 and am unimpressed to say the least. I got about a .85 °C Drop in a 10 gallon tank in a room with an ambient Temp of 23°C.
I got better results with an open top or open feeding door tank with a small fan blowing over the surface of the water and an airstone. The combination of the two didn't do any better. For a 55 Gal tank I ended up making a DIY chiller out of a water cooler.
Now I just don't keep cold water stuff.

Ahh. I've always wondered how well it'll work. Perhaps due to your low ambient temperature, it just doesnt work as well for you. Where I am, my ambient is roughly 26-30 degrees so i expected to get a rather significant result from the ice probe. That being said, i havent had the chance to test it out since the supplier decided to cancel my order for it after some mixup.
