can any one recommend a goood sponge filter that i can use instead of the large built in filter that will be a shrimp trap as i cant figure out how to cover the inlets to stop any shrimp from getting sucked in, its a jewel 190 built in filter thats stuck in the back corner.
Will i need two or more to cope with the large tank volume?
i will run side by side till the are fully active with bio film, no shrimp in at present just snails and plants.
Previously been running as community tank for two years.:)

mmm. not quite familiar with your filter, but on my HOB, i have a custom cut and sewn "sock" over the inlet made from the netting material you would usually find on fish/shrimp catching nets. it's easy and very cheap to buy a small net and cut off the material from the frame. after that, all that is required is to size and sew before wearing it on the inlet like a sock.

thanks countcoco, i have ordered the hydro pro v from USA says its good for over 100 gallons.
I have a good air pump running on the tank already so it should be goodfor the filter.
