Do chiller need cleaning before use?

Hi, I am asking this question on the behalf of a friend who is gonna to install a chiller to a currently running shrimp tank. the question is :
"Do the chiller need to be cleaned internally or flush before connecting up to the shrimp tank that is already running with CRS in them or can connect up straight away? "
I did not answer him because I wasn't certain myself (as mine was cycled using an empty tank filled only with water before being connected to my shrimp tank.)
Anyone can advice on this?

Bought a Resun, though about flushing it. but laziness got in the way....didn't have any problems or issues. But perhaps luck......better safe than sorry though.

Anyway my friend has came back to me. He too didn't do much of a flust except connecting the inlet to a tap and let the water to flow out thru the outlet for a minute or two. All was well, no shrimps casualty.
