I seen on many photos that some use Adasoil as substrate. Is that better than classic stone/sand grid?
And one more thing, do you filtrate through active carbon? Should It eliminate Cu,Pb, Nh3 and so?

Adasoil is made of peat and clay, it softens water and lower PH, if you shrimps need acidic water, this is the substrate to use without the need to lower the PH of your raw water and you can grow some stem plants without adding fertiser. At least at the beginning, monitoring of PH is necessary when Adasoil is used.

Personally, I don't use activated carbon, activated carbon removes heavy metal like Cu, Pb but not nitrogenous wastes.

I am using Ada soil.
Does AdaSoil make "dust" when you do something with ground? Can you break piece of it, when you push it slightly?
I'm asking because I want also buy something like that, but AdaSoil is not sell here, so I don't know if have I buy "Akadama" (Amano used it in his first tanks) or Aquaclay (from germany).
