:D SSS stands for Super Simple Shrimp (nothing to do with CRS grading :D) tank for the versatile Yamato shrimps, it comes with 13W PL, sponge filter and a 60mm fan. No gravel but a lot of moss. All in a 1 feet cube tank.

Found this healthy pinky yamato in the tank of a LFS and now she is in my tank:

Sorry, if words like SSS make your heart throbs. lol

Want to keep Yamato in the simplest tank, they are doing well inside and hope to breed them.

oh nice.....
what tips did u get ?
is that supposed to be a secret..?

there's an article by Hockey Shrimp, in the forum library, on breeding red nose shrimps by using fresh water, and then slowly increasing the salinity.
Is your's similar ?

There is a theory out there that suggests that breeding Yamato/Amano is as simple as matching the KH/GH to that of a brackish environment. No ocean salt needs to be added. I don't know the exact requirements, but there have been reported success using such a method.

oh cool....
you don't know the requirements ? so what's your approach ?
heard anyhting about breeding olive nerite snails ? read that they need bracking to breed too, so would this method of matching KH/GH apply too ?

Yamato shrimp's larvae require salinity in the water to develop and grow. So, in fresh water tank, I would say no way.

There is someone who can breed small amount of yamato in his freshwater tank unintensionally.
