Hi Costi8......good to see a shrimp tank that is beautifully planted with a very natural layout...Is this a low tech setup or are you infusing C02...?

I love the scaping. Very cosy feel.:)

Yes, I agree... the scaping is very natural and cozy. It looks inviting. And I love your plant selection... mainly bryophytes.

It's a shame your shrimp are not cooperating. I found temp the biggest issue for breeding: too low and they don't berry, too high and the shrimplets don't survive.

Good luck, Tony

The right side of this tank looks absolutely perfect!

What is the name of the stem plant in the 3rd picture?

What are the parameters of the crs tank where you are having issues with reproduction? Also, how many crs are currently in the tank?

Rotala sp. 'Mini' – Type 1

What are the parameters of the crs tank where you are having issues with reproduction? Also, how many crs are currently in the tank?

I have a total of 12 shrimp in aquarium
last test looks like this:

KH - 2
NO2-0
PH - 6.7
1. what tests should be a keeper in my aquarium?
2. which are the best parameters for reproduction?
3. What do you think? would need to go with CO2 injection? I now CO2 1 bubble / 3 seconds

nice healthy tank..but rotalas arent ment to be put infront
i think would be better if you replace the rotalas with Blyxa japonica and let the carpet plant grow further :)

Thanks for the plant ID ;)

You should purchase a gH test kit, an NO3 (nitrate) kit and a TDS meter (total dissolved solids).

Here are the parameters my crs seem to reproduce the best in:

pH 6.2-6.6
gH 4-5
kH 0-1
TDS 120-180

Yours look pretty good though. I'm guessing that your TDS is probably well over 200, which will slow down breeding.

can you give some details about TDS ..?
from where? from what I read I had it all dissolved solids in water.
and decreases as the amount of TDS? by what method?

I think one can place rotala, or any other plant(s) for that matter, wherever one wants in one's own aquascape - the fish wont care. If one likes it, that should be more that enough, as long as the plants and the animals are healthy and thriving.

Hi costi,

I had my crs in a tanks with co2 before. They reproduced slowly.

In my new tank I removed co2
I use Ada soil with ph 6.4
My temp is stable at 22 degrees
I added a double sponge filter which I hear will increase baby survival rate
And I bought an eheim filter which now gives them 10x more bacteria.
And feed them shirakiku baby food.

Now my population has doubled in a 7 gallon tank from 52 to well over 100 in 2-3 months.
