hi i am asking how long do you prepare any new plants before adding them to your shrimp tank i have just bought some eloadea crispa( i think) and have put it in my community tank for now its been in for 3 days is it long enough or should i wait a bit longer?
i just want make sure that there is no anti snail killer on it etc.

I've never done that, unless I'm moving the plants from one of my other tanks that's kind of dirty. My real concern is introducing hydra with new plants. If your worried about snail killer, a quick rinse with luke warm water and then an overnight soaking in dechlorinated water should suffice.

It's odd how shrimp are immediately affectionate towards certain types of plants. I had read that shrimp love hemianthus micrathetoides (pearlweed), but they really didn't seem too fond of it.

I think it is better to soak it for awhile i don't know how long i m trying to do some google on it. The reason why i say this is because my tank is right in my dinning room far away from the windows and i stay on the 7 storey. So the possiblities of having dragonfly and damsefly nymph is like 1% or less. But recently i found a hugh nos. of nymph in my tank and it was most likely from the moss ball i introduce in. I have to remove all my plants etc to catch those wiggling fellas. I hope i've seen the last of them. And also i suffer huge lost like almost 20 over shrimp due to the disturbance of the water. Look at this http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa397/Maurice_Tan/PC020122.jpg

What I did was to rinse the plant and try to rub leaves, if any or just rinse really well. Soak it at least overnight or longer like 3 days-1 week if u want to be really safe I use tap water though. Kills the bacteria nasty stuff but its still your choice if u want to use dechlorinated water. Once done with soaking, shake off as much excess water and use them as u like. :)

Yes, dragonfly and damsefly nymphs are predatory. They require protein to metamorph into dragon/damselflies.

Guys just to mention i did a experiment on this nymph they live in a wide range of water parameter.

the experiment go like this

tub 1 pure tab water (ph about 7.8) growing slowly been in it for like 2 weeks
tub 2 soaking a rotting star moss on rock (stinking like hell parament never check) growing fast and big 3 weeks
tub 3 in tank water (ph about 6.8-7.0) growing also. 2 weeks +

So get rid of them

Yea i suspect it from one the star moss. didn't notice it until i caught one of them. And start hunting for more. Yea base on the experiement they can grow in wide range of water parament i think hatching in a tank if not surprise unless there is fishes in tank.
