Hi guys.
i want to get some floating plants for the tanks, do you guys have them and what is the best fortaking up nitrate?
Nitrate is a rolling problem for me i cant seem to lower it significantly even with regular water changes and less feeding.:(
i have java fern, java moss in tank at the moment.
I did have an anubia in too but removed it to the community tank as i was worried about the poison issue that i had read on here but it seems its possibly just an issue with treated new plants that have been put in so will probably put it back.

The nitrates in your tank do not go down significantly because the plants you have in the tank are all slow growers. Your best bet is to add in some fast growing stems to soak up the excess nitrates or do more regular water changes. Floaters may help, but stems work better.

Hi Amanda - I've got plenty of Rotala stems in my crs tank. I'll send you some foc if you let me have your address. They grow really quick and don;t require high light or ferts. Look pretty too!

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi amanda!
I think fast growing stems won't make it easily
in a 'low tech' tank.
sooner or later you'll need to aument your lights and start fertilizing C P micros.
This way, the fast growers will
eat up excess nitrates and phosphates.
In the long run I'd suggest you the use of a high CEC substrate, any kind.
And more powerful filtration (more bacterial surface).
or even a DIY nitrate filter where regular lucky bamboo get the job done.

will you need a CO2 injector to keep fast growing stem plants?
