I having a little problem with my female cardinal dying after releasing eggs. They would last for 3 or 4 consecutive spawns and then die after releasing eggs or sometimes still with the eggs. The youngs survive as I see little ones and most eventuall grow to adults.

I'm wondering if they are constantly berried, it just depletes their reserves? I read somewhere hat they only breed twice a year in the wild.

I beleive my water parameters are good and I rotate them through a varity of food (spirullina, crab cusine, shimp pellets, spinach, shirakua) and leave an almond leave in. I see them graze throughout the day.

Do I need to introduce some bloodworms or something liike that to add more nutrients to the female's diet?

How long is 3-4 spawns exactly (in weeks/months)? In the wild, it is probably true they don't spawn are frequently. They must look for food whereas in the aquarium, we feed them and food is not hard to find. Whether or not this increases their mortality is debatable, but certainly not impossible.

My caridina dennerli carries their eggs about 25 days. So Canshrimp are talking about 3+ month.
