My Aeglids spend all day hiding. They don't come out until late at night and seem very shy. When they do appear they spend their time digging through the gravel looking for things to eat.

Are they usually like this? I don't see them moving around at night but see gravel they've moved when looking for food or making a cave bigger. Occassionally I see one crawling up the plants.

Edit: it's late and they are out hunting. I've just noticed that they all have walking legs missing. One has lost 2 legs on the same side. What could cause this? Is it like 'creeping death' that some crabs get, where the legs drop off and they die?

Any other advice on keeping them would also be appreciated. I feed Hikari crab pellets and see they eat snails. Temp is 24c and waterconditions are good, no ammonia or nitrates.
