This is my new 1 months old 2 ft tank. I realised that my shrimp like to stay near the surface near my air outlet. Is this a sign of lack of oxygen? I have this problem with my old 1 ft tank so i change to a 2 ft.
I should have about 50 shrimp in there. Species are blue, green, cherry, tiger, bee and CRS.
Any comment for my tank?

It may not be oxygen, could be the water parameters as well.. when they want to get out of the water they are in, by instinct they will against any currents in the tank, in the case, against the weak currents caused by the air outlet. Try to test the water if you can, and see if there is any obvious problems..
Nice aquascape by the way.. looks like mountain ridges behind open fields.. :)

Guess not because of oxygen, yesterday just put another airstone at the other corner but the thing happen. I test the PH is around 7, i have try to lower it using moss peat and cattapa leave but no use, the water just turn brown.

when my tanks starts using signs of ammonia my shrimps start to swim lots and half will crawl onto the HOB filter outflow platform and just crawl there for a while. maybe thats your problem too

Thanks imi_sky. Do you mean my ammonia level is too high? I make 20% water change weekly, is it enough?

im not sure if your ammonia level is high or not but, do you have ammonia test kits?? check your ammonia level and go from there it would be easier, i do little water changes each day to my shrimp tanks and in total i do 6%. 2% each time and 3x per day, once in the morning, once during the afternoon, and once at night before lights off

My tank should be mature, its previously used for my ram. I just revamp the decor abit and then cycle it for 1 weeks before i transfer my shrimps over. On the first 2 day, 3 of my tiger died. Presently the condition seem to improve after i change water last saturday, guess could be ammonia.

Great setup, should bloom nicely if well taken care of. Yes there might be a lack of oxygen. You might want to add in an air stone. :)
Shrimps should hang around the bottom and plants instead.

Don't think its ammonia, i put in an ammonia and its read okay. I also put in a sponge filter, cos now i have a sponge and hanging filter. My shrimp doing well now, can see lotsa pregnant mother, hopefully they don't cross and produce alien! haha!
