Hey everyone,
I have this powerhead reactor on my tank and i used to have this prefilter sponge on the intake but i took it off earlier today because the sponge was so annoying and every 3 or 4 days i'd have to take it out and clean so would it be dangerous for cherry shrimp to swim around it? and what would happen if a baby got into it? its going at about 110gph so i imagine it is pretty fast. I still have the plastic prefilter that the powerhead comes with with the slits on the filter intake and dont plan on taking that off so would that be enough?

You may want to temporarily switch the powerhead off when you remove the prefilter to wash.

The plastic prefilter may help a bit from prevent fries to get in, but again, I believe it is ineffective for the newly born. So best way is to switch off powerhead while you work on it.

Shrimps are known to get into powerhead in and out safely, but who know if they turn into mince meat.

well i mean take the sponge off permanently, i guess if they are small enough to get through the first prefilter hopefully they will fit in the propeller chamber and out
