This is the only DISPLAY tank at home. :D When i was up this tank. It is kinda empty. So, I am throwing in whatever mosses I received from friends or collected from wild. (Didnt use the tripod. Sorry...)

Going to remove the dwarf vallisneria behind. And some touch up. I pushing down the moss floor all the time. So that it won't trap lot of debris. :p

Nice growth of moss! :D Thanks for sharing - I'm hoping my office tank will look something like that when the moss grows out. Now it's taking forever - SIGH! *impatient impatient*

Hi Queen Amidala,

Try to dose some Potassium and magnesium sulfate. I am dosing it once a month.

I am lost count also. A friend from Singapore who is good in mosses and liverwort laughing at me. Said i don't have display tank at home. (I was tot this is my display tank...heart painful... :D )

Perhaps, most of the hardcore moss hobbyst prefer to keep the mosses seperately. He said better to keep 1 type of moss in an aquarium, instead of mixing all of them together in an aquarium.

Beside the java, spiky, peacock and the mini christmas moss. The rest are collected from wild.

Dom,

Any chance you can take pix of the different types? I've only heard of Java, Singapore, Taiwan, Christmas, Erect, and Stringy moss and only had experience with Java.

I'd like to be able to see the differences, if possible.

Thanks.

looks like a very good looking moss set-up.Its just the water seems a bit too cloudy, but overall the look of the tanks is great.

Latest update. Not yet really have time to trim the mosses. growing everywhere. And sad... All of my shrimp died. Yes..all died!

First is my 2ft shrimp breeding tank. Was back to home town for CNY. Back to KL and found 90% of water dry out. coz forgotten to turn off the fans. And it was blowing for 24 hours and more than a week.

Was lucky to safe 30 over shrimps. Then place into this moss tank. Shrimp was happy. But shrimplet all eaten by the rasbora harlequin. And...was trying to grow the moss faster. Overdosed the CO2. Fishes survived. But all shrimps went to heaven.

:embarasse Learnt from mistake. Don't rush of growing the plants when there are shrimps inside.

I´m sorry about that. But your tank is looking great.
There was a thread about rasbora eating planaria. IMO they also eat shrimplets and here we have it.

That sucks, dom. :embarasse In time, you'll build your shrimp population back up and your tank will be teeming with life once more!

dom that sucks. but ...that tank looks nice

Frank- harliquen rasbora are considered the bigger of the rasbora family. the small ones are said to eat planaria and wont touch baby shrimps^^

Thanks for the tip.
I thought every rasbora is small.

Just took out the harlequin last night. Replace with the Boraras brigittae (mosquito rasbora) which is the smallest rasbora in the world. tinny.. just 1-2cm. Friend went for netting n caught more than thousand pieces. Just a scoope from his 3x2x2ft tank...and there are 400-500 pieces inside the net.

So, this 400-500 pieces are inside my tank. Due to their mount are small. Only able to feed them with brine shrimp. I might get the S grade CRS next month to mix with them. (going to take out around 200 pcs and locate in another 2 nano tanks.)

If you got S grade CRS and intend on breeding, i suggest you don't try to mix with boraras brigittae. Small as they might look, i see that a baby shrimplet will still fix nicely into their tiny mouth.

You do not need to feed brine shrimps to it. My boraras brigittae happily take pellet/flake food anytime.

Hi Dom,

Where did your friend catch so many wild rasboras??? I would like to go there too when I visit Malaysia.

dom

Hi Missi3ellie ,
I knew some home breeders in SG. Will travel down to JB and meet up with them.

Hi Spinex,
Ok ok ok...no mix with rasbora. I am breeding the German Ram and hatching lot of brine shrimp. So, just feeding the rasbora with it after fed the ram babies.

TheTeh,
He caught this from Vietname. He is the discus breeder. So, he got his own way to transfer all the fish to malaysia.
