I went camping in the Cascade Mountains of Washington, USA. A week ago, and brought home some mosses I found growing in the stream there.

So far, one is doing VERY well, and the other is still adjusting.

The spiky one might not be aquatic, it's hard to tell up there in the mountains, because sometimes the streams flood, so maybe during 4 months they are submerged, and the other 8 they may be out of water.

Only time will tell on these.

I also brought back more that aren't in these pictures. I think 4 different species.

Anyways, here's the two.

The first one already has beautiful new growth! None of the small vertical threads were there on monday.

Nice. The last piture (the spiky looking one) I don't think it's aquatic. I see them in my school attached to concrete, but the ones I'm talking about doesn't have red hues in them. Update when you can please.

SO, the upper one is a meadow moss, apparently it can only take about a month completely submerged, but it will attempt to grow towards air. So far it's sent up vines going 3 inches, and looks like it may try to die soon.

And then the spikey one just turned red and then fell apart after about 3 weeks.

I have more now, I got some moss from the bottom of a riverbed here in washington, and it's pretty cool, it was in fast flowing water, so I mounted it to a rock right under the filter outflow. It's doing really good, and I've never seen it in anyones tank before.

I'm hoping it does really good with temps in the 70's, especially since the river it came from averages about 54 fahrenheit most of the year.

Time will tell, so far it's doing great.
