I found this inside the shrimp tank. It is attached on the Fissiden and mosses. I was thought it was the snail eggs. But then they will move and reacted like the mushroom in marine. Once you touch it...it will shrink and move to other direction.
But never see any shrimp or shrimplet trap on this. Please advise.

Hi Dominic,
this could be a colony of Vorticellidae, in English called peritrichs. They are small zooids which consists only of one cell but some species can build colonies where they live together with other speciemen. They eat bacteria, algae and other creatures of their size. So they are harmless to shrimps. A few days ago I saw some very similar looking creatures in a friends tank. They are interesting to observe and yes, they are able to move.

I would still err on the side of caution though. Watch them and make sure they don't eat newborns.

Thanks Robert. Saw your reply in killies.com too.
The shrimp won't eat them. When they passing by or getting close to this zooids. They will just shrink... :p

That is kinda gross to see them moving around. They all disappeared after washed by pipe water.

Hope that they will not come back. Not sure if broken pieces by water will help them to spread.

So far didnt see any. I am suspecting it is coming from the fissiden and the pelia which i collected from wild. :embarasse

Do you do any kind of "disinfecting" before you placed the rock w/ fissiden in your tank? I've learned to do this after having some snail infestations and some other critters (leeches). I use a 1:20 ratio of bleach:water and then put into a container with water conditioner (dechlor) for about five minutes.

There are lot of fissiden and mosses i got from wild inside my tank. I just never see this "fungus" appear. Only this nano tank with it. And I just use pipe water to wash before i introduce inside the tank. Bleach is no no for me. Scare a bit over and will kill the plants n shrimps at the same time.

I can see this inside the LFS called Nature Aquarium in singapore, it didn't seem to affect their shrimps.. I wonder what they are too :)
