Anyone know how to differentiate the sex of Banana wood shrimp? Recently saw the lfs selling some huge fella. Some are in dark blue, some are in green and some are brownish. But they are real huge...
I got 4 of them and thinking of breeding them. Are they easier as other shrimp? Please advise. Thanks... :)

I have not keep Banana wood shrimp before. But I think you can recognise them by the head shape near maturity. Female will have rounder header and fuller body.
Do you have pictures of banana wood shrimps? Please show.

Do you take any post/pre-rescape measure to prevent shrimp death?

i suspect there maybe few sub-species. About a year ago most i found is about 2-3 inches in lfs whereas recently i found the bamboo shrimp in most lfs is huge (4-5 inches).
Btw if you mix with small shrimp, wouldn't the "fan" capture all the shrimplet?
Btw mine decided to move out of my house after ~1 year in my tank (i found him crawled 20 feet from the tank and couple feet from my main door...).

In Malaysia, hobbyst or lfs called it Banana wood shrimp. But in US and other countries, they called it Bamboo shrimp...
Mine are more than 3inch. So far saw 2 of them. The other 2 might die or hiding. Can't really see them since i am decided not to rescape the tank.

I think you´re talking about the same species as gunmetalblue (Atyopsis moluccensis).
There are a lot of pics from her. Please see general topics.

Finally...got the pic. but just half of the body. Recently my shrimp breeding tank fans and filter cable was accidently unpluged by me. End up i saw 4 dead banana wood shrimp inside the tank. And the smell frm the dead body really killing me.
This is the one in another 2ft tank.

A player is "pwned" in a game of Counter-Strike. That player is not visible due to being moved elsewhere after losing.
The verb pwn (past tense: pwned, pwnd, pwn'd, pwnt) as used by the Internet gaming subculture, means to beat or dominate an opponent (pwned can mean "to be made a fool of"). While it probably originated as a typographical error of the word own, it is now used intentionally by many members of the subculture. The term has become so ubiquitous in Internet circles that it is often used outside of gaming contexts- for example, "He just got pwned in that debate", "The bears pwned that hunter." or "Chelsea opened a can of ultimate pwnage"

Oh...ic. lol no wonder i can't find in dictionary. Guess you are a big fan of internet games. But i am not. So...pls use the wording which is for us to assorb easier. (And pardon my "half pail of water" english.) :joking:
Btw, the banana wood shrimp won't pwnd any shrimp. Was saw a hybrid trap between the "hands" of banana. But the banana just release it instead of making it as food.

If you are talking about Atyopsis moluccensis (Generaly called Wood Shrimp)? Then yes, they can easily be sexed by the front legs (not the fanning ones but the next pair, the first pair of walking legs). Males have big honken leggs and females are smaller. This can easily be seen in compairson.
